Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a whole body, gentle, light touch therapy acknowledging the inter-connections of mind, body and spirit.
Two keystones of this work are: 1) there are tidal movements in the body at tissue, fluid and subtle energetic spheres 2) there is an intelligence expressed throughout the whole body. Taping into the body's inherent intelligence and these slow tidal movements is deeply nourishing and can foster deep releases of long held restrictions and tensions leaving a new freedom and vitality in the body.
This modality is a development of cranial osteopathy, initiated a century ago by William Sutherland D.O. He and his colleagues first noticed "breathing" in the body related to the stronger pulsations of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). As they refined their palpation skills, they noticed slower and subtler rhythms. Years of patient exploration of these polyrhythmic tides, their relationship with the body's physiology and the interface with the inherent dynamic stillness and intelligence that informed them, gave rise to what is now known as Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.
During a session, the therapist mindfully listens through their hands to these natural rhythms and dynamics of the body's physiology by subtly touching the cranial bones, spine and connective tissues, orienting to the underlying health and the body's inherent intelligence. You, as a client, will comfortably sit or lie fully clothed for your session.
This gentle modality is appropriate for most people, young and old, who often find relief from a wide range of conditions, from chronic pain and stress induced maladies to subtler mental or emotional tensions, finding more ease and freedom in various aspects of daily life. It is through working with the whole body that specific symptoms can resolve.
